Barbara has worked with babies and children for over 30 years. Having qualified as a midwife Barbara worked in Neonatal Intensive care for 15 years, so understands that some babies go through a difficult time and need support after discharge. Barbara has been a breastfeeding supporter with the Breastfeeding Network for the past 12 years and has supported many mothers with feeding their babies. Barbara has undergone training in sleep for babies and children with Millpond and along with Craniosacral therapy can help with supporting parents to help their babies and children to sleep. Whilst working as a community staff nurse within the local health visiting Barbara understands the developmental milestones babies and children go through and how sometimes little challenges in life need supporting with Craniosacral Therapy.
Babies benefit a great deal from Craniosacral therapy. Sometimes there may be restrictions within the body from the position the baby was in utero and during labour. Trauma from delivery especially babies born by forceps, ventouse or caesarian can have an impact on the baby's skull bones. These restrictions can cause babies to have gastrointestinal problems such as colic constipation or reflux. Some babies may be irritable and not like being put down or put into the car seat. A simple treatment can release these restrictions and help the baby to feed better, sleep better, be calmer and more relaxed. During a session Barbara is able to assess for tongue tie and support with feeding Craniosacral Therapy for babies helps with Colic and reflux Constipation Feeding difficulties Breastfeeding Tongue tie Flat Head Syndrome or Plagiocephaly Torticollis or tight neck Sleep problems Development Tension Birth trauma |

Tongue Tie
Tongue tie, or ankyloglossia, is a condition where the band of tissue (frenulum) beneath the tongue is unusually short, tight, or thick, restricting tongue movement. There are different degrees of tongue tie and they need to be assess to see if intervention to release is needed. Craniosacral therapy can help release tension from the muscles under the tongue.
