Monday 17th January is apparently Blue Monday, research back in 2005 showed the third Monday in January is the most depressing day of the year.
Many of us find ourselves in subzero weather, looking at our post-Christmas credit card bills and realising we might already be breaking our New Year’s resolutions.
It doesn't need to be like this, there are lots of things to be positive about!
Bulbs are starting to come up in the garden and my Camellia is starting to bud. Each year I take photos of my Camellia as it is one of the first things in the garden to flower and it makes me smile, and reminds me spring will be here soon.
What makes you smile and happy?
Here are a few things that you can do to help you feel happy.
Think of 3 things to look forward to this year
Appreciate the little things
Don't dwell on the negative but turn thing around and look for the positive
Look up and notice the things around you
Take yourself out of your comfort zone and do something different.
This year I have set myself the challenge of learning something new and I have started learning to play the piano. I have had my first lesson which I really enjoyed. Taking on something new and different has not only given me satisfaction and motivated me to improve but can actually improve brain function.
